Canoeing is a recreational boating activity and has many similarities to kayaking. The main difference is that canoeists traditionally kneel in their boat whilst using a single bladed paddle to propel themselves forward. However, more commonly now participants sit facing forward in an open deck canoe. From simple touring on placid water to more challenging white-water descents and coastal challenges, the UK has something to suit all levels of abilities.
