Sailing is a popular sport in the UK, with hundreds centres and clubs operating on our many lakes, rivers and coastline. In order to sail independently, you will need to have completed some basic training, usually in the form of a RYA (Royal Sailing Association) course. For adults the beginners syllabus is broken into 3 levels and for juniors there are 4 youth stages to complete.
Providers will typically offer skippered trips for untrained crew, but some providers also offer boat hire for those who have completed their basic certification.
